There goes the snow
Well, by morning our snowman was toppled and we'd lost a few inches of snow. Today I'm looking at about 5 or 6 inches left on our roof and our forecast is for +9C today! And for tonight, get this... RAIN! I think I'm going to stand outside and let it fall on my face for a while. All week we are forecast to see above 0c here in Quesnel, which means that's the end of the snow depth. Our chairs and slide in the back are almost free of snow completely. Well, until the next dump of snow... which will take us through to the beginning of March with snow on the ground.
I've just enjoyed some cereal with frozen blueberries and now planning out the kids breakfast. I think we are going to spend some significant time outside today.

Above Zero!
It was a beautiful day here in frozenland today. The mercury climbed all the way to the five this afternoon. Combined with the bright sunshine it made today a perfect snowman building day. Here's a photo of the kids and their (and Wes') creation:

Happy New Year!
The Linde Family wishes you a very Happy New Year 2010!
Last night (New Years Eve) we stayed in, had a mock party with the kids at the turn of the decade (Eastern Time) and sent them off to bed. Minus Ben of course, who did not nap at all yesterday, except for the couple naps in our arms before trying to put him down in his crib. It made it very hard for Christy to get anything done yesterday. But we love the little adventurous monkey and he was very happy staying awake as much as possible for the last day of 2009.
We stayed in because we are all so tired from partying all week at the Lees' house with all the family from that side.
I'm preaching at the church here on Sunday and I'm using Matthew 28:18-20... with a little help from a children's book called "Scaredy Squirrel makes a friend". It's quite intriguing to look at when thinking about Jesus' commission to us.
I should get back to drinking coffee and watching the kids... especially Ben since he puts everything in his mouth.

Shortest day
Snow has been a surprising story for us the past 12 hours. It's snowing right now and we are now well over the accumulation of about a foot so far this winter. It melted a bit the other day.
So today is the shortest daylight hour day of the year. We notice it up here, being that much further away from the Equator. I tried to figure it out and I think we are about a half hour sooner than the coast to reach complete darkness. The bright side is, the days only get longer from here until the end of June. But the kids don't notice or care. They play happily at my feet as I blog.
Christmas is soon, Emily's birthday is soon, and things are slowing down for this week. We had the staff over for a party last night. After the party was over we stayed up late playing "Scene it, Disney edition".
So for the week, we plan as a family to go skating (indoor, we haven't heard if the pond is ready for outdoor), and prepare for Christmas and the true meaning of the season. To know that Jesus came to save everyone, and did so without trumpets and fanfare... but rather He came, sent by God, to a virgin who gave birth in a stinky stable. Animals and other more unpleasant things were also present at the time of His bith. But yet this is how He came. Humble. A baby. The son of God. And I am truly amazed at what I see and experience. Especially at this time and season.

Jayson's School Concert!
This will probably only be interesting to the grandparents. Wes had some trouble videoing it due to the super squirmy nearly three year old on his knee. I love how in this video Gage (beside Jayson) keeps yawning and Audrey (behind Jayson) is trying to take off her dress or something.
