Looking back on the Olympics

Blogging today about the Watoto Choir, it reminded me that we hadn't yet blogged about our Olympic experience.

First off, Emily is doing very well with singing our National Anthem.  In fact, we find her singing it all over the house, in the car, and in various random places outside.  We as a family watched the Olympics that first week and decided to just do a quick trip down to take in the atmosphere.  It worked out fairly well since Teri came with us and we met Mark downtown.

Children of Africa, Children of Canada

We had the privilege to host 3 of the members of the Watoto Children's Choir from Uganda last night.  Emily especially enjoyed getting to know the girls.  Jayson liked their dancing as they sang.  Benjamin even bounced to their drums.

If you have a chance to go and see them, they are amazing!  All of them are orphans from the Watoto Villages in Uganda.  The Watoto villages are made up of houses for children orphaned by AIDS.

Emily attended a birthday party today at the gymnastics club, and I think we found her sport!  She loved all of it.  She bounded from apparatus to apparatus and tried everything with no fear and great success.  The kids had a lesson from one of the coaches and they were all so cute!  Here are some pictures from our day.  Christy

Torch In Town!

The olympic torch made its way to Quesnel yesterday and we were excited to have the chance to take part in the Olympics. My mum and dad were visiting and we got the kids all dressed up in their new olympic mitts and Canada fleeces (from Grammie and Granddad) and headed out to the church to watch it go by. It was fun to see it arrive in Barkerville style on a stage coach. Emily and Jayson caught the excitement in the air, and Benjamin got so excited he fell asleep before the torch arrived. Oh well, we have pictures to prove he was there even though he won't remember it!
